Late in Life

Are you where you’d thought you’d be at this point in your life? If not, take heart. The best may be yet to come.

Many reach their thirties, forties, or fifties, disheartened that they haven’t accomplished more. Some even fear that they’ve wasted too much time and will never achieve anything worthwhile. I say, no matter your age, don’t give up. Now may be the perfect time to move forward. Many notable figures achieved their greatest work late in life.

Laura Ingalls Wilder, for example, author of the Little House on the Prairie series, didn’t publish her first book until she was 64. Her last went to print when she was 76.

Benjamin Franklin was 70 when he signed the Declaration of Independence.

Ray Kroc was nearly 60 when he franchised his first McDonald’s, which, as you may have heard, went on to sell billions of hamburgers around the world.

It can be discouraging not to feel like we’re achieving goals important to us as the years slip by. Sometimes it takes longer than we expect to find our true passion or to develop the skills and confidence necessary to achieve our ambitions.

Don’t give up! Commit to living all of your life. Seek God’s best for you, then get out there and make it happen.
