If your teenager is struggling to discover his or her identity in Christ and to live boldly for Him, extend an invitation to sit down with you and listen to our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Living Boldly for Christ in School.”
Emma Mae Jenkins is our guest. She’s a 21-year-old college student and a YouTuber with over 75,000 thousand followers. Her videos are filled with positivity and hope. In each one, Emma Mae encourages young people to live out their faith right where they are.
On our program, she shares about her decision in high school to turn her free time at lunch into an opportunity to reach out to her fellow students. Instead of chatting with friends or sitting by herself to do homework, Emma Mae went from table to table, asking if everyone was having a good day.
Another idea took some organization and manpower. She orchestrated an effort to ensure that every student in her high school received a Christmas card. With the help of family, friends, and members of her youth group, nearly 4,000 index cards were handwritten with a message of hope for Christmas. School administration helped distribute them.
Whatever the idea, Emma Mae says the important thing is to serve others for Christ. She tells people, “Don’t let how you love people be determined by how you think people will respond. If you do, you’re living your life to get people to like you. Serve others with no strings attached.”
I love Emma Mae’s spirit! The high school and college years are an extremely influential time in a young person’s life. Help your teenager discover his or her identity in Christ and gain the confidence to live boldly for Him.
