Teacher of the Year

Teacher's books

On our program today, we’re airing a classic Focus on the Family Broadcast you won’t want to miss.

“Teacher of the Year” is a tribute to teachers, featuring a talk by Guy Doud, voted Teacher of the Year in 1986. His inspirational and humorous message highlights the powerful difference teachers can make when they reach out to students who feel like outcasts relegated to the sidelines of their school.

I’ll always remember Mrs. Bandy, the school nurse at my elementary school.

“The most important book a parent will ever read” – Yours Free!

The rollercoaster ride of school closures and remote learning in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic has put an extra bright spotlight on the classroom.

At the same time, pandemic or not, we regularly hear from parents who are concerned about their child’s education. It’s often about what their instructors are teaching. Other times it’s what they’re not being taught.

Lately, we’ve heard from moms and dads who feel like people of faith are increasingly unwelcome in public schools or that their deeply held convictions are incompatible with the curriculum.

Guest Post: Relax! Your Kids are Already Homeschooled

Relax! Your Kids are Already Homeschooled

As several states announce that schools will stay closed for the remainder of the academic year and others have suspended classes indefinitely, I’m hearing from other moms who are overwhelmed at the thought of becoming their child’s teacher.

I understand the apprehension, but a little perspective might be helpful.

If you think about it, mothers already wear all kinds of hats. By some estimates, moms simultaneously hold between 40 and 50 different job titles from chef to cleaner to chauffer, as well as crisis negotiator and relationship guru.
