Parenting Wisdom You Need to Know from the Bible’s Most Revered Moms

Many women have an identity problem. When they introduce themselves, they say, “I’m just a mom.”

Just a mom? The reason mothers often hold such a low view of themselves is misguided but understandable. At first blush, there’s nothing significant about chasing kids around the house, fixing meal after meal, and stepping on toys scattered down the hallway.

But that view grossly underestimates the importance of a mother’s role in the lives of their children. Moms are modern day superheroes. Their capes may be tattered at the end of a long, tiring day of laundry and runny noses, but they deserve superhero status for all they do.

Moms are not glorified babysitters, they nurture their children and care for the deepest places of their hearts. They are the first person in a child’s life that influences them to pursue their hopes and dreams and become the men and women God created them to be. Mothers see the deepest, truest parts of their children yet love them unconditionally right where they are.

Mom, you aren’t simply changing diapers; you’re molding character.

To help you better understand the critical role you play in raising your children and impacting the culture, I’ve invited author Rhonda Stoppe to join me on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.

Her book, Moms of the Bible: Life-Changing Lessons from the Fearless, Flawed, and Faithful, details how women in the Bible can influence you to be the kind of mother you dream of being.

Rhonda shares how to be fearless in your faith, to entrust your children to God’s care, and to equip your children to live out God’s truth in a hostile culture by understanding the lives of women in the Bible like:

• Rahab.

• Jochebed.

• Herodias.

• Lot’s wife.

• Eve.

• Naomi.

• Hannah.

• Faithful unnamed moms.

Hear my full conversation with Rhonda Stoppe on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, or on our free phone app.

Before you go, I’d like to extend an invitation for you to become a special partner with us through our monthly “Friends of Focus on the Family” program. When you do, I’ll send you a copy of Rhonda’s book Moms of the Bible: Life-Changing Lessons from the Fearless, Flawed, and Faithful as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ. You’ll also receive member-exclusive benefits. To make your pledge, or for more information, click here or call 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
