This year, Focus on the Family is commemorating Sanctity of Human Life month in January in three primary ways:
1. Announcing a new milestone for our Option Ultrasound program
In the ten years since its launch, we estimate that Option Ultrasound has now helped saved more than 300,000 babies! Since its beginning in 2004, Option Ultrasound has provided some 655 grants to qualified pregnancy medical clinics and about $4.5 million worth of benevolent resources to pregnancy centers.
It’s been a remarkable group effort. The Option Ultrasound outreach is comprised of counselors, medical professionals, fundraisers, church and community leaders, attorneys and volunteers who have banded together to provide love and practical care to women and their children. God has blessed and multiplied the sacrificial generosity and commitment of these wonderful individuals.
2. Kicking off a social media campaign aimed at raising awareness of the value of both mom and baby
Focus’ “I Am Pro-Life” Facebook page will encourage its almost 1.2 million followers to use the #iseetwo hashtag on social media along with an #iseetwo sign they can feature on their selfies.
The campaign will feature five influential women:
– pro-life activist Dr. Alveda King,
– obstetrician Dr. Freda Bush,
– Anne O’Connor, J.D.,
– Susan Thayer, and
– Maria Gallagher
These women will share how their different backgrounds inform their views on abortion and lead them to see two lives worthy of care and support.
3. Providing resources to empower advocates
Focus’ “Be a Voice” Web page will provide resources for equipping people who want to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves. The “Dignity of Human Life” tool kit is a 50-page resource for pastors and church leaders that includes a video and fliers that feature the five women and the downloadable #iseetwo sign.
I hope you’ll join us in observing Sanctity of Human Life month this year, and share that when you see a pregnant woman — #iseetwo.
