As soon as we announced that Vice President Mike Pence was planning to speak at our 40th anniversary chapel this coming Friday, reporters began asking why.
Focus on the Family has had a friendly relationship with Vice President Pence, who is an outspoken Christian, for years. His commitment to families and the preborn has been evident since his early days as an Indiana state representative, during his tenure as governor of the Hoosier State – and it’s remained steadfast in the White House.
In fact, I had a chance to speak with Mr. Pence earlier this year at a pro-life reception on the eve of the March for Life and was struck by the genuine conviction in his voice when he spoke about protecting the preborn.
During our conversation, he personally affirmed his and the administration’s commitment to make our nation a safer place for children in the womb. He went on to share that pledge the following day when he became the first vice president, and the highest-ranking government representative, to ever speak in person at the March for Life.
It’s no wonder, then, that we’re honored to have Vice President Pence join us in marking 40 years of helping save marriages in crisis, equipping moms and dads to thrive as parents, speaking to crucial policy issues, and creating a culture of life in our nation.
Worship with Steven Curtis Chapman
I’m also happy to share that our friend Steven Curtis Chapman will be helping us celebrate Focus’ 40th anniversary on Friday! Steven will be delivering a special musical performance and leading worship.
We’re thankful to have someone of Steven’s caliber with us that day. He’s a talented songwriter and performer who has won five Grammy awards, 58 Dove Awards, and has sold about 10 million albums.
But what endears Steven the most to us is his genuine faith, and the honesty he – and his wife, Mary Beth – have consistently shown as they share about their joys and struggles. That humility and earnestness has characterized our joint efforts to promote adoption and orphan care with the Chapmans and their organization, Show Hope.
Celebrate with us online
Our celebration wouldn’t be complete without you, though.
We’ll be live-streaming our special chapel service at the Focus on the Family website on Friday, June 23, starting at 10:05 a.m. Mountain time/12:05 p.m. Eastern time.
All you have to do is visit www.focusonthefamily.com/anniversary on Friday during that time.
We’d love for you to tune in and celebrate God’s goodness and faithfulness with us.
