Many women feel overwhelmed. They’re busy from morning until night yet still don’t seem to have enough time for important things like devotions, exercise, friendships, sleep, or quality time with their families.
My wife, Jean, did a great job of keeping our family and household in order during our parenting years. But some days the strain she was under was tough. Like the evening I came home from work and Jean met me at the door. I hadn’t even stepped inside before she handed the boys off to me and said, “I’m done,” then turned and walked away.
We’re examining practical ideas for how to do just that on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Making Time for What Matters Most” with our guest Crystal Paine, author, speaker, and busy mom with six kids ranging from teenagers to toddlers.
Crystal has developed her own time-saving strategy based on four steps:
- Pray. Women often work too hard or try to carry too much on their own. When you face difficult circumstances, turn to 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, which reminds us that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness.
- Priorities. The average adult makes nearly 35,000 decisions each day. Instead of saying, “I don’t have time,” learn how to make time for what’s most important. A healthy schedule isn’t a matter of time but of priority.
- Plan. To use your time well, account for it properly.
- Prep. Establish healthy routines that help you go about your day more intentionally.
