It’s a sad reality that many kids grow up going to Sunday school, church, and youth group and still leave home believing Christianity is a list of dos and don’ts. Somehow, the core message of the Gospel doesn’t break through.
One solution is to read the Bible with your children. Many parents want to, but it can be daunting. Kids have short attention spans, and Mom and Dad are exhausted from busy schedules.
So what do you do? To answer that question, I’ve invited mom, children’s book author, and Bible curriculum developer, Danika Cooley, to join me on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly.
She addresses three concerns parents have about reading the Bible with their children:
- It’s too big to read with kids. Hear why you shouldn’t balk at the size of the Bible.
- It’s too hard to read with kids. These days the Bible is available at reading levels accessible to most children.
- It’s too edgy to read with kids. Although all Scripture is valuable (2 Timothy 3:16), Danika explains how to move small children through the Bible without exposing them to graphic content.
She also shares helpful tips for making Bible reading a regular part of your family’s routine. Join me for my full conversation with Danika Cooley on your local radio station, online, on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or listen on our free phone app.
Danika’s book Help Your Kids Learn and Love the Bible will give you the tools you need to read Scripture to your children with confidence. It’s available for a gift of any amount, we’ll send you a copy as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ.
