Passing on Your Faith to Your Kids

Like my world, yours is probably hectic and fast paced. You’re booked solid with work, household responsibilities, and obligations to your church and community. Some days it’s tough to keep up with all of the good that you’re doing.

Overcommitment is an easy mistake to make. Every opportunity seems deserving of a yes. But one yes too many is all it takes to go from “busy” to “overwhelmed.” One day you’re happily doing good things. The next day you can barely keep up with all the good things you’re doing. Worse, yet, you have less and less time for other good things, like discipling your children in the Christian faith.

Maybe that’s why one of the top questions we receive from parents here at Focus on the Family is, “How can I pass on my faith to my kids?”

We’re answering that question on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Passing on Your Faith to Your Kids.” Our guests are Matt Chandler and Adam Griffin.

Matt is the lead pastor of The Village Church in Dallas, and Adam is lead pastor at Eastside Community Church, also in Dallas. Together, they’ll equip you to share your faith and lead your children in spiritual discipleship.

Matt and Adam say that spiritual discipleship doesn’t have to be as complicated or intimidating as we often make it out to be. On our show they provide simple, practical ideas for making family discipleship easier and more effective.

If you feel uncertain or ill-equipped to share your faith with your children, you’re not alone! Learn how to keep discipleship simple by modeling your faith, being consistent, and changing your strategies when discipling doesn’t go as planned.

Tune in for our conversation on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or take us with you on our free phone app.

Before I close, I’d like to extend an invitation for you to become a special partner with us through our monthly “Friends of Focus on the Family” program. When you do, I’ll send you a copy of Matt and Adam’s book Family Discipleship: Leading Your Home Through Time, Moments, and Milestones as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ. You’ll also receive member-exclusive benefits. To make your pledge, or for more information, visit our website or call 1-800-A-FAMILY (232-6459).
