She was Aborted … and Survived

For over 40 years, our society has promoted the idea that abortion is as simple as a woman’s choice. Abortion affects her and no one else.

Pro-abortion activists never mention the babies, the men, and the families who are impacted forever by an abortion.

They also never talk about children like Melissa. Her 19-year-old mother was in her third trimester when she was given a saline abortion. The procedure injects a toxic salt solution into the amniotic fluid surrounding the womb.

Should Our Christianity Be Private or Public?

Today is Good Friday, the day Christians remember Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins. Sunday is Easter, the day we celebrate His resurrection.

The rest of the world spends this season conjecturing about who Jesus is or debating whether or not He ever existed.

Throughout the culture, the story of Easter is seen as having everything to do with personal faith and nothing to do with objective truth. Religion, it’s believed, doesn’t deal with facts, it deals with personal experience and feelings.

Heaven: Our Ultimate Hope and Home

Anne Graham Lotz is the daughter of the late Reverend Billy Graham. You can hear echoes of him in her voice – both in her southern accent … and in the way she talks about heaven.

She says:

“I wonder if you’ve ever really had a home. Were you raised in an orphanage? Were you in a situation where your family moved from place to place to place? If you’ve never really had a place that was your own, there is a heavenly home that has your name written on it.

Remembering Reverend Billy Graham

Reverend Billy Graham, who died early Wednesday at the age of 99, was called “America’s Pastor” for good reason. For over 70 years he worked in ministry, preaching, evangelizing, counseling U.S Presidents and meeting with world leaders. Millions have come to know Jesus as Savior through his sharing of the Gospel.

Those of us in the Christian community may be mourning the passing of this spiritual giant, but Rev. Graham has been looking forward to this day for many years.

Trust Not in Kings, but in the King of Kings

Today we’re re-airing one of the highest response programs of 2017 here at Focus on the Family.

It was a message by Senate Chaplain retired U.S. Rear Admiral Barry Black at the National Prayer Breakfast last year in Washington, D.C.

His remarks were delivered to the President of the United States, more than 4,000 government, business, and religious leaders from all over our nation and 160 countries around the world, and to Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

Presidential Proclamation / National Sanctity of Human Life Day

From the White House:

Today, we focus our attention on the love and protection each person, born and unborn, deserves regardless of disability, gender, appearance, or ethnicity. Much of the greatest suffering in our Nation’s history — and, indeed, our planet’s history — has been the result of disgracefully misguided attempts to dehumanize whole classes of people based on these immutable characteristics. We cannot let this shameful history repeat itself in new forms, and we must be particularly vigilant to safeguard the most vulnerable lives among us.

Focus on the Family Celebrates 40 Years of Inspiring Families Worldwide

In 2017, Focus on the Family celebrated 40 years of strengthening marriages, equipping parents, speaking on behalf of those who can’t speak for themselves and addressing public policy issues affecting the family.

“It’s an honor to be part of 40 years of strengthening millions of families,” Focus on the Family President Jim Daly expressed. “Our work in helping couples in crisis has contributed to over 170,000 marriages saved in 2017 alone. There are similar stories about people’s lives changed for the better through our efforts in evangelism, parenting, advocacy for children and engaging the culture, as well.

This Quote Can Change Your Life and the Lives of Those You Love

The quote has been attributed to several people:

Plato.

Socrates.

Reverend John Watson.

Ian MacLaren.

As it turns out, Ian MacLaren is actually the pen name for the aforementioned Reverend John Watson, a Scottish author and theologian who lived the majority of his life during the second-half of the nineteenth century. He passed away in 1907 at the age of 57.

Ten years earlier, in 1897, the Reverend Watson was invited by the popular religious newspaper, the British Weekly, to submit a Christmas message.

Escaping the Prison of Your Past

“Why should I focus on my past? It’s over. I can’t change anything about it.”

Answer: If your past still affects your present, it’s not really in the past.

Wounds from our past can imprison us within ourselves. Satan is a master at dredging up old hurts and using them against us. Sinful and dysfunctional behavior today is often in reaction to the pain that litters our yesterdays.

Guilt, shame, bitterness, resentment, and anger are a long, slow path to destruction.
