Tips for building a Healthy Family

Home improvement is more popular than ever.

Well, for a lot of you, anyway. I have to be honest. Home renovation scares the daylights out of me. To say I don’t have an aptitude for it is an understatement.

A few years ago, Jean and I had a contractor come to our home to assess some water damage. Water got inside one of our window wells after the cover peeled away. The guy looked things over and said, “This is a simple fix. You could make it a weekend DIY project.”

I nodded at the guy, but later I had to go inside the house and ask Jean, “What does DIY mean?”

That’s embarrassing to admit, but I know I’m not alone. A lot of couples scratch their heads in confusion when someone suggests that their family relationships could benefit from a DIY renovation.

Drs. Gary Chapman and Sharon Warden are with us on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Tips for building a Healthy Family” to share about how you can approach your marriage and parenting like a do-it-yourself project that infuses kindness, love, forgiveness, and fun into your marriage and parenting relationships.

You can hear our conversation on your local radio station, online, on Apple Podcasts, via Google Podcasts, or on our free phone app.

And don’t forget that by God’s grace and your support Focus on the Family remains open for ministry and eager to help your family. We have resources available for your family during this time of uncertainty in our online bookstore.

We’re also offering a 4-week free trial of Adventures in Odyssey Club, which includes episode streaming, daily devotions, exclusive video stories, and more. Check our website for details.

We’re also offering an opportunity for you to text TRUST to 72000 and be signed up to have timely resources sent to you.

I’d like to extend an invitation for you to become a special partner with us through our monthly “Friends of Focus on the Family” program. When you do, I’ll send you a copy of Dr. Chapman’s and Dr. Warden’s book The DIY Guide to Building a Family That Lasts: 12 Tools for Improving Your Home Life as a way of saying thank you for touching others with the love of Christ.
