If you’re a parent of a biological child, you’ll never forget the first moment you saw your little one on an ultrasound image.
It’s the ultimate look within. Today’s expectant parents can see what tens of billions of couples throughout history never did – 3-D images of their preborn baby moving around inside the womb.
For most moms-to-be, however, that amazing ultrasound moment comes around once, maybe twice in a pregnancy.
But thanks to Focus on the Family’s new resource, “The Wonder Within You: Celebrating Your Baby’s Journey from Conception to Birth,” women and their families will have the opportunity to watch videos tracking a baby’s development throughout each of the 40 weeks of pregnancy.
It’s been dubbed “the most technically advanced pregnancy book in the history of the world” for good reason. Using QR codes – those little boxes with squiggly lines – readers can watch 40 videos of 3-D ultrasounds taken with GE’s latest HD live technology right from their smart phones.
Because a picture is worth a thousand words, I want to show you one of the videos featured in this book. It shows a 31-week old preborn baby smiling in the womb.
Isn’t that incredible?
“The Wonder Within You” was written by Carey Wickersham, a journalist, wife and mother of two who dove into researching prenatal development after suffering two heartbreaking miscarriages. When she got pregnant a third time, she worked through the fear by learning all she could about her growing baby.
One result of that research was this unique week-by-week guide that tackles all aspects of a pregnancy – from diet and nutrition to the physical and emotional challenges a woman experiences during the process, it’s all here. The book also features dozens of stories from moms and dads who speak to the uniqueness of every pregnancy experience.
You can learn more about the book and the miracle of those amazing 40 weeks during today’s broadcast, “Celebrating the Wonder of Pregnancy.” I hope you’ll tune in or listen online.
