How to Answer Challenges to Your Faith

Some in the culture say, “There’s no such thing as truth.”

Question: Is that statement true? If there’s really no such thing as truth, then the statement itself is self-refuting.

Arguments against Christianity like that usually fall flat when you peel back the layers and respond with a broad knowledge of relevant issues, wisdom rooted in God’s Word, and an ability to speak truth in a winsome way.

We’re talking about how to develop all three on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “How to Answer Challenges to Your Faith.” Our guest is Greg Koukl, a Christian apologist and founder and president of Stand to Reason Ministries.

Helping Those Suffering from Mental Illness

According to the National Institutes of Health, one in five adolescents in the United States suffers severe impairment or distress from a mental disorder. Often, these teenagers and their families feel isolated and alone, not knowing where to turn for help.

In addition, mental illness is still stigmatized to a degree that hinders many people from seeking treatment or receiving the support they need.

Dr. Matthew Stanford understands this problem well. He’s the CEO of the Hope and Healing Center and Institute in Houston.

Andy Stanley, Pope Francis, and the Idolization of Evangelism

American flag and church steeple

Believing the spirit of the Christian calls for us to assume the best intentions of fellow believers, I was intrigued when I first learned that North Point Community Church in Atlanta planned to host a conference late last month for parents of LGBT children and ministry leaders looking for more effective ways to serve those impacted by the heavy and increasingly controversial issue.

In fact, the outreach brought back memories of a similarly themed conference that my organization, Focus on the Family, hosted for several years well over a decade ago.

Jim Daly’s Statement on Saturday’s Terror Attack on Israel

The savage terrorist attack on Israel by the Hamas terrorist organization has rocked an already uneven world, spiraling the Middle East into violent chaos. Our hearts break for our Israeli friends, as well as for the unknown number of innocent victims and families from other countries, including the United States, who are caught in the crosshairs of this unprecedented slaughter and war.

The scale and scope of the brutality are not yet fully known, but we do know that hundreds of lives have been lost, families have been disrupted, hostages have been taken, and women and girls have been raped, beaten, and killed.

Finding Real Purpose in Your Life

Forty years ago, Dr. John Trent created the concept of LifeMapping as a way to help people break free from isolation, loneliness, and chaos and move into a place of connection, caring, and calmness.

I discussed this idea with Dr. Trent and his daughter, Kari Trent Stageberg, on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Finding Real Purpose in Your Life.” LifeMapping helps you reach your full potential by recognizing positive and negative life patterns.

It’s Never a Mistake To Defend Innocent Life

While running for president in 2016, billionaire real estate developer and reality television star Donald Trump made a bold promise concerning the Supreme Court that many of us considered almost too good to be true.

“The Justices that I am going to appoint will be pro-life,” he told moderator Chris Wallace during a heated debate with the Democratic Party nominee, former first lady Hillary Clinton. He correctly added that reversing Roe v. Wade would send the issue of abortion “back to the individual states.”

President Trump kept his promise, appointing three of the five justices who ultimately voted to overturn Roe in June of 2022.

Keep Failing

The secret to success isn’t avoiding failure. It’s learning from your mistakes and continuing to move forward.

The television series Alone is a survival competition where participants survive alone in the wilderness for as long as possible. Contestants are given minimal equipment and must build their own shelters, start their own fires, and find their own food. The physical demands are brutal.

One of the contestants, Colter Barnes, lost 86 pounds over 67 days in the wild and had to be medically evacuated.

The Revitalization of American Masculinity is Our Nation’s Most Pressing Need

There is a staggering crisis among American men, and it demands immediate national attention. That is the focus of an important new report recently released by Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

The report, “The State of the Working (And Non-Working) Man,” explains that the number of American men out of work today is greater than it was in the wake of Great Depression. And what makes this crisis even worse, is that their idleness is largely voluntary.

Focus on the Family President Jim Daly’s Statement Regarding President Trump’s ‘Meet the Press’ Interview

“Beginning in 2017, pro-life supporters found a strong advocate in President Trump. As promised, his key appointments to both the United States Supreme Court, federal courts and other agencies helped bring to fruition the fall of Roe, a wicked and evil 1973 decision that contributed to the death of over 60 million innocent children.

“The reversal of Roe and the Dobbs decision made clear the United States Constitution does not confer a right to abortion, and that states are permitted to restrict it.

How Jesus Redeemed My Gender Confusion

Gender identity is a pervasive topic these days. The culture is locked in debate about everything from access to restrooms to competition in women’s athletics to the ethics and morality of certain courses of treatment for children dealing with gender dysphoria.

For Christians, this isn’t a political matter, a psychological orientation, or even a social question. It’s a spiritual battle. The Bible is clear that God created humanity as male and female, biological certainties that are not dependent on how a person feels or “identifies.” However, we battle an enemy who sows seeds of confusion that corrupt our understanding of God’s beautiful design.
