Decreasing CDC Abortion Numbers Don’t Tell the Whole Story

Headlines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) heralding the claim there were over 10,000 fewer abortions in 2019 as compared to 2018 suggests abortion is on the retreat.

Unfortunately, such a report is misleading – and for several reasons.

First, media often fail to distinguish between abortions reported versus performed. California along with a few other states and the District of Columbia haven’t reported any abortions for years. So, in reality, we have no way of knowing specific numbers in those areas – but what we do know is that abortion clinics in those areas remain very busy.

In addition – and this is the most significant shift in years – chemical abortions (the killing of pre-born children by taking a drug called mifepristone) are rising rapidly.

The Radical Left Wants to Decide Who Lives and Who Dies

If it feels like those who champion abortion rights and unfettered access to ending the lives of innocent children in the womb are growing more extreme, consider as evidence an opinion piece published in last week’s New York Times.

Elizabeth Spiers is a Democrat strategist – and a radical abortion activist. In the article, Ms. Spiers actually suggested that adoption is more “dangerous” than abortion.

Let that sink in.

Killing trumps living.

To bolster her wildly reckless assertion, the writer goes on to explain that she was adopted and that her biological mother “remains heartbroken about the years we missed together.”

In a curious and downright perplexing twist, Ms.

The Beginning of the End of Abortion in America

The sun has set on the Supreme Court this December afternoon marking the end of a remarkable, historic and encouraging day for all of us who champion and support the sanctity of life.

It’s likely we won’t know for sure until later this spring, but a majority of the justices appeared sympathetic to Mississippi’s right to limit abortion to 15 weeks’ gestation.

In fact, after nearly 50 years of abortion on demand, we’re looking at the very real possibility that the High Court may well decide to get out of the abortion business entirely, leaving the issue up to the democratic process.

Several conservative justices strongly challenged the wrong-headed argument of the abortion industry that the court should follow “precedent” in this case, even if the justices think Roe was wrongly decided.

“If we think that the prior precedents are seriously wrong … why then doesn’t the history of this court’s practice with respect to those cases tell us that the right answer is to return to the position of neutrality?” asked Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“Precedent” was a major theme and one that liberals and pro-abortion activists love to talk about – that is until they find a Supreme Court precedent they don’t like and want overturned.

Just because a case has been wrongly decided for many years is no reason to keep upholding bad law.

It is Time to Right an Historic and Evil Wrong

It is time.

In fact, it’s way past time.

For nearly a half-century, abortion on demand has been legal in all fifty states leading to the tragic holocaust of over 60 million innocent babies.

It is time to right an historically devastating and evil wrong and overturn the fatally flawed Roe decision from 1973.

I’m in Washington, D.C., and will be closely following today’s hearing of the Mississippi Dobbs case inside the Supreme Court. Due to the pandemic, the courtroom will be closed to spectators, but the audio of the proceedings will be available in real time.

As Supreme Court Hears Texas Abortion Case, Texas Governor Greg Abbott Joins Focus on the Family Radio Program

All eyes will be on the Supreme Court today as the nine justices hear arguments in the highly anticipated six-week “heartbeat bill” case, Whole Women’s Health v. Jackson and United States v. Texas.

Given the magnitude of the moment and the fact that the state of Texas has been in the middle of not only this case but other pressing national issues, we decided to invite the Lone Star state governor, Greg Abbott, onto the program today.

Governor Abbott has been married to his wife, Cecilia, for 40 years and the chief executive of Texas since 2014.

Portland Bereavement Policy Affirms These Two Things

News broke this past week that city officials in Portland, Oregon have now authorized state employees who have abortions to take up to three days paid bereavement leave to help process and emotionally heal from the death of their pre-born child.

Those of us who have been advocating for every life to be protected under law have long said that abortion is a traumatic event resulting in deep grief and sorrow. In fact, studies confirm it.

A Two Word Solution to an Age-Old Problem: Stop It!

Readers above a certain age will remember the comedian Bob Newhart. Now 92 years-old, the actor known for his deadpan delivery once played a psychologist dispensing advice to a cast of eclectic characters. Encountering a woman who feared and thought continuously about being buried in a box, the doctor famously relayed a two-word solution:

“Stop it!”

Naturally, breaking a bad and destructive habit is easier said than done. But the first step is realizing the harm that is done by consuming pornography.

Sharing Your Faith with Boldness

In 2014, brothers David and Jason Benham were considered the next stars of the HGTV cable channel. Their show Flip It Forward was expected to be as successful as Chip and Joanna Gaines’ show, Fixer Upper.

However, five weeks into a 10-week film shoot – and just months away from airing the first episode – David and Jason were fired. HGTV executives said activist organizations had begun confronting the channel and targeting advertisers. The reason?

The Benham brothers are unabashedly vocal about social issues related to marriage and pro-life values.

Radical Abortion Bill Yet Another Round in the War on Children

Focus on the Family president Jim Daly reacts to the House passage of H.R. 3755:

In a galling twist of irony, liberal members of the House of Representatives passed last week (on party lines) the “Women’s Health Protection Act” – a tragic piece of legislation designed to guarantee unfettered access to abortion.

In reality, the legislation doesn’t protect anyone – it actually endangers women and ends the lives of innocent children, along with cheapening the sacredness and value of life overall.

Using soft words to describe dark deeds has become the calling card of abortion advocates, who routinely refer to abortion as “healthcare.” It’s simply not true, and saying so however many times they do won’t make truth of a lie.

The apostle Paul had little time for deceivers, admonishing fellow believers in Ephesus to “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them” (5:11).

Liberal Doubletalk and the Situational Logic of the Left

When does life begin?

Can only women have children?

Recent answers from liberals to both of these hotly debated questions might surprise you.

In a stunning admission, New York Times correspondent Jonathan Weisman acknowledged, perhaps inadvertently, what science and common sense have long affirmed – that life begins at conception.

The startling comments from one of the nation’s historically liberal newspapers came in an article detailing the Democrat party’s push to pass an unprecedented $3.5 million budget designed to dramatically expand nearly every area of social welfare.
