Witnessing History at the Impeachment Trial and Tomorrow’s March for Life

If you had the opportunity to attend the
ongoing Senate Impeachment Trial of President Trump, would you go?

I’m in Washington, D.C., today ahead of the historic March for Life rally tomorrow and found myself with an invitation to sit in the Senate gallery, located in the north wing of the Capitol building.

I accepted.

Prior to sitting in on the trial, my colleagues Tim Goeglein and Joel Vaughan and I had an appointment at the Department of Justice for a briefing with domestic policy staff.

The Impeachment of President Trump

I’m deeply troubled by what’s happening in Washington D.C., including the most recent development.

Today’s impeachment of President Donald J. Trump by Democrats in the House marks the continuation and deepening of a dangerous cultural and partisan divide in our country.

The process now moves on to the Senate, where Majority Leader McConnell has pledged to conduct a fair and speedy trial.

Scripture commands Christians to pray for “all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:2), and so we must continue committing this entire uneven episode in our nation’s history to the sovereignty of an all-powerful and all-knowing God.

Your Help is Needed: Please Speak Up for Faith-Based Child Placement Services

As someone who spent time in foster care as a child, the plight of our nation’s children who find themselves detached and unsettled outside their biological families is of great concern to me.

In fact, according to the most recent statistics, over 443,000 kids in America today find themselves somewhere in the foster care system.  There are names behind that huge number, and every one of them represents a little world that hangs in the balance.  Like you, I’m deeply grieved to know that many of them feel as though their future is bleak and hope is in short supply.

California on Verge of Giving Children in Foster Care Abortion and Transgender “Rights”

In case you’re not already aware, I wanted to alert you to some disturbing news out of California.

For the details, let’s turn to my friend and colleague, Jeff Johnston, one of our analysts and a writer for The Daily Citizen:

A bill that gives children in California’s foster care system a variety of dangerous, age-inappropriate “rights” has already passed the California State Assembly and was scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee this week.

Free Excerpt: New Book from Focus on the Family’s Tim Goeglein

On the eve of America’s Independence Day celebration, I’m eager to share with you an excerpt from mt friend and colleague Tim Goeglein’s new book, American Restoration: How Faith, Family and Personal Sacrifice Can Heal Our Nation.

There’s no question that the heart and soul of America are ailing. It’s easy to become discouraged and to believe that our country’s best days are behind it.

In American Restoration, however, Tim Goeglein and his co-writer, my friend and former colleague, Craig Osten, paint a hopeful picture of the future that lies ahead if the people of this great nation will do the hard work necessary to restore freedom, family, and self-sacrifice to the center of America’s values.

Lift High the [Bladensburg] Cross: Supreme Court Decision is a Win!

There is welcome news today from the Supreme Court.

A 94-year-old war memorial in Bladensburg County, Maryland, can remain in place, despite the demands of the American Humanist Association to tear it down.

Also known as the “Peace Cross,” the memorial was commissioned and built by the American Legion and mothers of the 49 local men killed serving this country in World War I.

Originally built on private land, the 40-foot-tall structure and the land upon which it rests were taken over by the local government 50 years ago for roadway expansion needs.

Please Take Action on the So-Called “Equality Act”

The late liberal activist Saul Alinsky, author of the book, Rules for Radicals, once famously observed, “He who controls the language controls the masses.”

While there is probably very little, if almost anything, I agree with Alinsky on, his statement concerning the use of words to frame an issue is spot-on.

Words mean things – but they’re easily manipulated to mean things that are simply not true.

History is full of people who attempt to use soft words to describe dark deeds.

The “Do No Harm Act” Harms Religious Freedom

It’s back.

A bill introduced in the last Congress in an attempt to gut the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) has been reintroduced in the current Congress. A liberal response to Supreme Court decisions such as Hobby Lobbyand Masterpiece Cakeshop, the bill is deceptively titled the “Do No Harm Act.”

RFRA was passed in 1993 in one of the most overwhelmingly bipartisan votes Congress has ever seen: by a voice vote in the House (equaling a unanimous vote) and 97-3 in the Senate.

New York State’s Barbaric New Law Legalizes Murder for Any Reason at Any Point During Pregnancy

New York state has recently signed into law a barbaric piece of legislation which would allow a woman to abort her child at any point during pregnancy, and specifically during the third trimester. The law only requires that the mother’s “health” is at risk. The term “health” is so broad that it could mean anything from medical, physical, psychological to financial issues.

Shockingly, there were celebrations throughout the state in response to the passing of this legislation, with lawmakers cheering wildly.

EXCLUSIVE: Inside the Investiture Service of Justice Brett Kavanaugh

By: Tim Goeglein

The late/great novelist Tom Wolfe once posited that there would arrive a moment where fiction would lose its relevance because the reality of American life was so much more compelling and, at turns, unbelievable.

Such was the week or so after the midterm elections in Washington DC. It was a little like living inside a dynamic, almost surreal novel.

On Capitol Hill, the balance of power shifted from red to blue in the House of Representatives.
