Why Mike Huckabee Makes Me Laugh

Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate-turned radio talk show host, was recently asked a series of questions by a reporter named Andrew Goldmen. I want to share two of them with you.

I appreciate a guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Q: Could it possibly be true that you have never, ever tried alcohol in your life?
A: That’s true, other than communion wine in Europe. But I’ve never, ever tasted beer.

The Church Bulletin Said What?

When an editor would have come in handy:

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.

The sermon this morning: Jesus Walks on the Water.

The sermon tonight: Searching for Jesus.

Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say ‘Hell’ to someone who doesn’t care much about you.

Dave Barry: Dining with Babies Causes Stressful Ambience

Does the columnist Dave Barry make you laugh?

Here are a few select excerpts from a column titled, “Dining with Babies Causes Stressful Ambience.”

Can you relate?

If you’re a new parent, there will come a time when either you or your spouse will say these words: ‘Let’s take the baby to a restaurant!’… It’s like saying: ‘Let’s take a moose to the opera!’”

It’s best to pay your bill as you enter the restaurant, adding a little extra (say, $800) to compensate for the fact that after you’re finished, your table may have to be burned.

This is Why Children Make You Laugh

It’s common to get caught up in the serious side of life, and how can we not? It’s a rare day that we don’t encounter somber circumstances of one sort or another. There’s illness, relationship dysfunction and the struggle to make the mortgage payment on the very day when the car’s transmission goes up in smoke.

A friend of mine refers to the normal vicissitudes of life as “The Tales of the Never Ending.” Indeed, it would seem that if we’re not careful, there is almost always something going on that threatens to suck joy out of an otherwise happy situation.

VIDEO: Tim Hawkins – Things You Don’t Say to Your Wife

Many of you are familiar with Tim Hawkins, the popular Christian comedian. He is a husband and father of four children – and a very funny man.

I’d like to share the following clip with you because, well, sometimes it’s just good to laugh!

Your Sense of Humor

Don’t you find it interesting that babies laugh before they talk?

Everybody likes to laugh. In fact, it’s a healthy habit. “A cheerful heart is good medicine,” wrote Solomon, “but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength” (Proverbs 17:22).

Good parents and healthy children tend to see the humor in life.

Several months ago we received a letter from a young boy. I figured he wanted some advice on how to help his sibling break a bad habit.

Valentine’s Day S.O.S.

As I mention on today’s broadcast (listen here) I’m in a bit of a spot. For last year’s Valentine’s Day I prepared a special dinner for Jean (baked pasta). Trent and Troy served as the waiters, and we had a great time doing it. In fact, it was such a hit that I was planning on cooking another dinner with the same menu again!  I shared this with the team and they were aghast. The same thing?!

Stay Calm, Dad!

I’d like to share something with you that’s cute, funny and inspirational.

How could you pass that up?

What you’re about to hear is a recording of a 5-year-old girl’s call to 911 on behalf of her ailing father. Savannah’s dad was having trouble breathing and unable to call for an ambulance. Thankfully, the story has a happy ending. But this highly intelligent little girl not only had the wherewithal to summon the paramedics, but she displayed some classic femininity in the process.

The Power of Love

I want to tell you a story.

It’s a simple and true account, about a recent opportunity I had to introduce a colleague to a new and exciting love.

Admittedly, the meeting came about like a bolt out of the blue, a serendipitous encounter up in Parker, Colorado.

At the time, we were hustling our way to Denver International Airport. Our car was full. We all had a lot on our minds: traffic, parking, how I would get through the  security lines  with a plate in my broken ankle and crutches under my arms, not to mention the upcoming meetings on the other side of the flight.

Life Saving Pizza???

George Linn might very well be alive today because he ordered a pizza.

This past Friday the Lakewood, Colorado man was awaiting delivery of a pie when he suffered a heart attack. His wife, Kami, was about to call 911 when Chris Wuebben, the pizza delivery man, showed up with their order.

Bad timing?

Hardly.

Mr. Wuebben had been a paramedic in Ilinois before moving to Colorado.

While Mrs. Linn called 911, Chris Wuebben administered CPR, stopping the heart attack.
